Two Enniskillen brothers, Eddie and Frankie Roofe have been selected to fish for Ireland.

The new comes after the sport's governing body the NCFFI, selected its team to represent Ireland at the World Championshisp for Boat Fishing with Lures which will take place in the Ukraine at the start of October.

The Enniskillen brothers earned their selection with an impressive showing at the recent NCFFI Boat Fishing with Lures Team Qualifiers on Lough Erne at Enniskillen at the end of July and again last weekend.

The championships will take place on the Delta Dnepra, Ukraine, near Odessa, on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7.

This will be the first time an Ireland team has been selected to fish this event and Eddie and Frankie will be joined by Joe McDermott from County Longford and Michael Dalton from Westmeath.

Speaking this week, Frankie Roofe commented: "We are over the moon to qualify and looking forward to the trip. It will be great to fish competitively and compete against fishermen from all over the world. We are currently looking for sponsorship as it costs 6,000 to send the team over and are confident local businesses will come on board." Indeed, the World Championships could be coming to Fermanagh in 2013 as the NCFFI has placed a bid with FIPS-ed to host the World Championships for Boat Fishing with Lures in October 2013, when it is planned that the event will be hosted on Lough Erne centered around Enniskillen.
