Enniskillen Running Club enjoyed individual and team success last Sunday at the NI & Ulster Senior Novice Cross Country Championships at Gransha Grounds, Derry.
Conan McCaughey crowned what has been an excellent year with a well-deserved win in the senior men’s 5K race while the club also claimed the prestigious Senior Men’s Novice XC team title.
NiRunning ‘blogger’ McCaughey, who is now based in Scotland, secured the NI & Ulster Novice XC title after leading the field home in 19:03.20. Conor Duffy (Glaslough Harriers) took the silver medal in 19:12.35, before McCaughey’s Enniskillen Running Club team-mate Stephen Prentice completed the prize-winning trio in 19:31.90. The excellent performances by Conan and Stephen led the Enniskillen Running Club team, which also contained Fergus McGirr, Stephen Cassidy, Adam Cooke and Eamonn Monaghan, to the Senior Men’s Novice XC team title.
And there was to be more medal joy for Enniskillen Running Club on the day also as Aoife Farrell claimed a silver medal as she came home second in the U13 Girls race.
