One week on from winning individual and team Ulster titles in cross-country and reported upon last week in the Impartial Reporter, Enniskillen Running club members were once again competing.

250 participants from north and south of the border descended on the Co.Tyrone village of Aughnacloy for their second Annual 5 mile road race on Saturday.

Dry weather conditions greeted runners to the start line, but a brisk headwind made the exposed hilly course tough going for all taking part.

Enniskillen Running Club was solely represented by David Somerville who was using this popular event as an opportunity to add some pace to a scheduled tempo run.

David returned to the finish area at the town’s Youth Hall in 31 mins, picking up a top five finish and some useful resistance training, thanks to the challenging route and head wind, in the process.

Monaghan Phoenix AC athlete Karl Kildea claimed first place in 28 mins with Sperrin Harrier’s XC star, Delfim Pimental, runner up in 29 mins.

Fellow Harrier, Paul McLaughlin secured third place in 30min.
