Andy Wray delivers a bowl during the game against Dungannon.

With only five league fixtures remaining in this years Border Counties league Dungannon, who only joined this league last season, are clear favourites to collect their first title. Although second placed Clogher Valley have a game less played they still trail the leaders by 16 points and would need to come in with some outstanding results for their remaining games.

Last week third placed Ballybay travelled to Omagh and just could not master the grass surface as opposed to their home synthetic green and returned home on the receiving end of a ten nil thrashing.

Sionmills chalked up their first win of the season when they entertained Letterkenny in a close encounter with the home side collecting the important overall points to win 6 points to 4.

Clogher Valley had a bye.

DUNGANNON 7 points (52shots)

ENNISKILLEN 3 points (46 shots)

Enniskillen travelled to Dungannon fully aware of the up hill task in front of them against the present league leaders and with home advantage in their favour.

The final result probably reflected on the overall play of the evening, with Dungannon winning two and drawing one of the four games played.

Enniskillen's winning rink of Joe Reilly, Gerry Rasdale, William Harpur and skip Wilfie Crawford chalked up their best result for this season and thoroughly deserved their 13 shots to 7 victory over Dungannon's K Wright. Wilfie's rink took control of this game right from the start and went into an early 8 shots to 1 lead after seven ends had been completed. Although their opposition came back into the game in the following four ends they were only able to collect single shots in each and the Enniskillen rink cruised to victory by a 13 shots to 7 margin.

Enniskillen's Andy Wray and his rink of Peggy Wray, Packie Howe and David Reilly were somewhat unfortunate to have to share the spoils in their encounter with the Dungannon rink skipped by H Dunbar.

In a marathon game the home rink held a commanding 11 shots to 3 lead at the end of the seventh before Andy's rink retaliated by winning the following four ends to take a single shot lead, 12 shots to 11. Going into the penultimate end the Enniskillen rink had the advantage by two shots but dropped a three and although the picked up a single in the last they had to be satisfied with a 15 shots each result.

On rink two the Enniskillen rink of Teresa McCourt, Alex Morrow, Dessie Brown and skip Eric Hamilton suffered their first defeat of the season with all four having 'an off day'. The Dungannon rink, skipped by Martin McKenna, fully deserved their 18 shots to 10 victory.

The game between David Dickson's rink of Masie Morrow, Jack Shaw and Maurice Brown and Dungannon's A Rafferty, was a close affair up to the sixth end when the score was locked at three shots each. After the home rink collected a four in the ninth the odds were stacked against David's rink who eventually lost out by a 12 shots to 8 scoreline.
