Jude Morris' triple who were the beaten semi-finalists at the Trory Triples Tournament.

Trory Bowling Club held their annual Triples tournament recently which is organised by the club in memory of the late founder member of the club Tommy Cuthbertson.

The week's bowling was very well supported by 71 triples who had travelled from all over to support the progressive Trory Club.

After the usual qualifying nights play eight triples returned for finals night, all with one ambition, that of winning the coveted Tommy Cuthbertson Memorial triples title.

The first of the semi's turned out to be a very much one sided affair when Mark Beatty, P J McCrossan and P J Gallagher completely outplayed a triple skipped by Stephen Clarke Clogherney overpowering them and ending on a massive 14 shots to 1 victory.

Meanwhile in a much close affair Gerrard Conroy's rink of Seamus McGlinchey and Damien Grimes booked their semi-final place after defeating the much fancied triple of Derek Kerr, Barry Brannigan and skip Liam McHugh by 8 shots to 6.

Unfortunately local triple of Karl Bradshaw, Niall Cox and Michael McGrade, after having the advantage of a single shot going into the last end, against an Ardstraw triple skipped by William Boggs, dropped a two to lose out by 7 shots to 6.

In the remaining game in the quarter finals, the St. Michael's triple of Jude Morris, Paul Wilson and James McCaffery, after a slow start against the Wellington triple of Ivor Armstrong, Jonny Braedon and Norman Noble, took control after the third end to win by 7 shots to 3.

The semi-final game between Mark Beatty and William Boggs tuned out to be a real marathon with the Boggs triple edging victory by a single shot 6 shots to 5.

In the other semi-final the St. Michael's triple skipped by Jude Morris unfortunately failed to continue their superb play which they displayed through out the tournament and went down to Gerard Conroy's triple.

The final between the two Tyrone triples produced some fine competitive bowling and after chalking up two threes, it was victory for Conroy's triple by 7 shots to 5.

At the conclusion of the week's bowling the Trory President Lennie Coalter sincerely thanked all the bowlers who had supported the tournament, the club members who had organised the weeks bowling so professionally and not forgetting the valuable ladies of the club for serving up the much appreciated 'cuppa' each night.

Lennie then called on Peggy Wray, the daughter of the late Tommy Cuthbertson to present all the finalists with their well earned prizes.
