Derrylin Boxing Club host their end of season tournament at the Donn Carragh Hotel in Lisnaskea this Saturday and will feature the unveiling of their newest talent. Derrylin Boxing Club coach Sean Crowley explained, “We are in the process of rebuilding the club and developing our next phase of boxers. Unfortunately, the club has lost 12 very talented and experienced championship level boxers this year due to migration, attending university and calling timeout but we have a new batch of youngsters coming through and they will get the opportunity to demonstrate their skills this Saturday.” Having held their end of season tournament in Derrylin for the past six years the choice of venue for hosting this year’s tournament came as a surprise but the move was logical as explained: “The club now has nine members from the Lisnaskea area and our tournament will feature five of them. We felt moving the tournament to Lisnaskea would give them a great opportunity to box in front of their own family and friends and to further promote the club in this catchment area,” added Crowley.

Derrylin Boxing Club advise that Saturday’s event will feature 15 contests including home favourites Adam Rice, Brandon Cassidy, Dylan McMahon, Pearse Mulligan and Ulster champion Ryan Copeland.

The bill will also feature two very intriguing female contests with the host’s All-Ireland finalist Donna Owens taking on a tough Scottish opponent, plus it sees the return of Cillian McGoldrick in a big hitting Light-Heavyweight contest.

The boxing starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the night at the door or in advance from either the boxing club or hotel see www.facebook/derrylinboxing for further details.
