The Northern Ireland West Region UEFA regions’ Cup team will play the Republic’s Regions Cup team at Ferney Park, Ballinamallard on Wednesday evening, October 26.
There will be a 7.45pm kick off for the match which is doubling up as a fundraising project arranged by the Rotary Club of Enniskillen.
Western Region manager Harry McConkey is putting his final touches to his preparations for the tournament in Moldova while the game will also be used to raise funds for a new mini-bus for Willowbridge School, where McConkey recently retired from his role as teacher.
Pupils from Willowbridge School will walk out with the teams and will play at half time.
And the evening will finish with pupils doing a penalty shoot out against the goalkeepers from both teams.
McConkey explains: “Some time ago at the back of the assembly hall in the school Kenny Fisher whispered in my ear if maybe I could organise a game to help raise funds for the new minibus.
“Well here we are and I’m delighted to support the pupils and staff of Willowbridge School with the aid of Kenny and the Rotary Club team.
“From a football point of view, I’m also delighted to bring the UEFA Regions Cup experience to the West Region for the first time ever.
“We have a lot of talented youngsters and excellent amateur players in the west and they are deserving of this European experience. It is a reward for their efforts in the amateur game,” said McConkey.
