Lisbellaw United 2 NFC Kesh 0

Lisbellaw made a return to winning ways, but they were made to work hard for their win over bottom club Kesh.
Goals from Raymond Carroll and Matty Woods were enough to earn the reigning champions all three points, while the defeat leaves Kesh still looking for their first win of the campaign.
For Kesh it is now nine games without victory, but despite the defeat manager Niall Amos felt his side could have got something from a game in which they pushed Lisbellaw all the way.
“It was disappointing,” admitted Niall.
“I thought we had more chances and put a lot of hard work into the game but we got nothing out of it. The lads were disappointed. I couldn’t have faulted their commitment and we played really well.
“All we can do is keep going and hopefully we can turn the corner. There is a lot of football still to be played. We are not just panicking yet but we know we have to turn it round sooner rather than later.”
Lisbellaw started the game seeing a lot of the ball but they struggled to breach a determined Kesh defence.
Jack Kerr was posing problems for the visitors up front and he thought he had won Lisbellaw a penalty when he went down inside the box as he raced towards goal, but the referee waved the appeals away.
Tiarnan Magee also tested the Kesh keeper following an excellent move down the left. At the other end Kesh carved out a couple of chances of their own but Lee Walker could not get enough purchase on a diving header to trouble the keeper.
He then turned provider to set up a sight of goal for Mark Jones, but the striker’s first touch prevented him from getting a shot away.
It took a spectacular goal from Raymond Carroll to break the deadlock five minutes before half time when he collected a loose ball, cut inside and fired into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Both sides managed to create chances in a more open second half.
For Kesh, Mark Jones, Aaron Graham and Lee Walker all had sights of goal but could not force the ball over the line, and Lisbellaw took a firm grip on the game when Matty Woods made it 2-0 with a powerful header. Substitute Robbie Little had a few chances to kill the game off but could not convert and Jack Kerr had an effort saved but Lisbellaw had done enough to secure the points.
