It is six points out of six for Ballinamallard in February.
The Mallards recent win at the Oval against Glentoran was followed on Saturday by an historic first ever Ferney Park triumph over Cliftonville.
Gavin Dykes was full of praise for the efforts of his players, with a number of the team producing their best football of the season.
“Brush is getting a lot of praise and rightly so because he has brought a lot to us, but I think Colm McLaughlin, James McKenna, and the whole back four have been really good over the last few weeks, as have the lads in front of them,” said the manager.
“Everyone has their job to do when we haven’t got the ball and we work very hard on defensive stuff and on counter attacking. I thought McGinty was great for us as well. In the second half he was immense and Cliftonville just couldn’t handle him. When he is on that form and when he passes the ball quickly he is as good as a player as there is in this league.”
Cliftonville had chances to level the scores in the second half of the game, but a penalty save and determined defending ensured the home team felt the ground smiling.
“We are happy that we came out the right side of it,” said Gavin.
“Cliftonville are a good footballing side and we rode our luck a little bit. I thought when we went in at half time they had bossed the game a wee bit but for work rate, for honesty, for endeavour, we were very good, and we provided a wee bit of quality for the goal and a good finish by Maysie.”
Ballinamallard are playing their best football of the season and with other results going their way on Saturday they look to be safe from the threat of relegation but Gavin is refusing to look too far ahead.
“It’s nice to get a win over Cliftonville and nice for the people who have never seen us beat them down here, but you only get three points for it,” he said.
“We concentrate on what we are trying to do ourselves. There is a bigger picture here. We have to try to start building week by week and continue to get better. I don’t like celebrating wins because it’s over now and gone. We did our job and we are delighted with it, and now we move on.
“Any day Ballinamallard stay in the Premier division is a great day for the club, and if you can beat the Belfast clubs then we are heading in the right direction. We will keep trying to push that way but we are taking one game at a time.”
The next test comes at Glenavon, and the Mallards will hope January signing Ryan Curran will be available for selection as they look to continue their winning run.
“Ryan will probably be available this week, and he is a great option for us,” revealed Gavin.
“He’s a really, really good player but we have only had the opportunity to get him on the pitch for twenty minute spells but it looks like he will be fit so that will be a help for Josh up front. We have won at Glenavon already this season and should have beaten them at home but got a draw, so we will go up there with no fear. It will be a tough game but we will be ready for it.”
