Dean Corrigan goes into the Super Cup as one of the more experienced members of the Fermanagh Premier team, despite being a year younger than many of his teammates.

The Ballinamallard player has had a season of Northern Ireland fixtures under his belt, and he can also draw on the experience of captaining the Fermanagh Junior side last year.

“It is going to be enjoyable,” said the defender as he looked ahead to the competition.

“I will not be as nervous going into the games because I have played quite a few big games with Northern Ireland.

“That will help with the nerves. It was good last year and hopefully it will be the same this time around.”

Dean led the 2016 Junior team to an impressive run of results in the group stages last season. After an opening day defeat to Strikers, the Juniors went on to defeat both Dundalk Schoolboys and Swindon Town.

This time around the draw has pitted them against last year’s winners Right to Dream and GPS Bayern, an American based Bayern Munich academy.

Despite the high profile of the opposition however, Dean is hopeful he can repeat his achievements of 12 months previously.

“It was a good enough draw,” he reckoned.

“Right to Dream will be tough but I still think we will be able to get quite a few points from the games. We have good players and a good squad so we will be alright. We will look to hit them hard.

“We do have a game plan but we won’t give it away! I think we will have a good tournament.”

That confidence has in part come from what Dean believes were good, intensive pre-tournament preparations.

“The training has been good but it has been hard,” he revealed.

“In the games we maybe should have had a few more clean sheets but overall it has been good.”
