Ballinamallard Utd 1 Warrenpoint Town 1

Ballinamallard United had to be content with a point after Warrenpoint Town came from a goal down to snatch a draw at Ferney Park tonight.

The result though ends a run of five straight defeats for bottom placed Mallards who will now look to build on this in the coming weeks.

The home side had appeared to be on their way to the win after Shane McGinty had given them the lead in the 47th minute.

However, the sending off of midfielder Richard Clarke in the 71st minute for a second yellow card swung things the way of Warrenpoint Town and a Darren Murray goal 13 minutes from time earned the visitors a share of the spoils.

Dykes felt the sending off was the key moment in the game but was delighted with the character of his players.

“I thought we started the second half very well and we got a goal and could have had another one but Clarkey has made a mistake, he has apologised to us in there, and I've no complaints about it. That though swings momentum their way.

“We then got done from a set play but tonight we showed a wee bit of bottle and we dug in the last ten minutes and that might be a big point come the end of the season,” he commented.
