Ballinamallard United 0 Ards 4

Balinamallard United manager will discuss his position with the club this weekend after he watched his side produce a very disappointing performance in their 4-0 defeat to Ards at Ferney Park today.

The loss leaves bottom placed Mallards still seven points adrift of Carrick Rangers with eight games to go and Dykes says that he and the club must decide whether he stays in the job or whether somebody else comes in to try and lift things for the final eight games.

“We have to decide whether the best thing for the football club is that I stay for the next eight games or whether we get somebody in to give it a bounce and that's not something we take lightly.

“We won't have a knee jerk reaction, we'll chat over the weekend and if we can regroup and we feel it is the right thing to do then we will do that but if we think it is the wrong thing to do we will look at it and go from there,” said Dykes.

The Mallards had started the game brightly but once Ards took the lead in the eighth minute it was all one way traffic.

Stephen O'Flynn had an early chance for the home side but he scuffed his shot and it was the away side who went on to take the lead through Ross Clarke's deflected shot.

Clarke doubled his tally as he fired in at the near post in the 15th minute and it was to get even worse for the Mallards when Callum Byers headed home in the 29th minute to leave it 3-0 at the break.

The home side were then reduced to ten men 15 minutes from time when Ryan O'Reilly was shown a second yellow card and from the subsequent free kick Clarke completed his hat-trick to wrap up a poor day for the Mallards.
