Paul Keenan (left) and George Elliott have been selected as the Milk Cup managers for 2010.

Paul Keenan and George Elliott have been named as the managers of the two Fermanagh Milk Cup teams for the forthcoming season.

Keenan has again been charged with taking the reigns of the Premier squad for the North West's popular international competition while Elliott returns to a management role at the Milk Cup with the Junior squad.

Interviews for the positions took place last week with the Milk Cup committee including three independent people on the selection committee for the first time, namely Sammy McFrederick, Roy Cathcart and Seamus McCusker.

Elliott has named a strong backroom team to help him prior and during the competition, and he is looking forward to getting things up and running with a first trial scheduled for Friday February 12, 5pm-6.30pm on the 3G pitch at the Lakeland Forum.

"It is about four years since I last managed a team at the Milk Cup although I have been involved in the coaching end of things in recent years and I'm looking forward to getting started. I have Andy Parkinson and Gareth McGuckin in with me while Christophe Moulin will help out as much as he can," said Elliott.

The new manager would have a good grasp of the age group he is going to be working with having been involved with the Centre of Excellence although he states that he will be leaving no stone unturned in finding the right players for the squad.

"I have worked with a lot of these players at the Excellence Centre in Irvinestown and this is the first age group who have come the whole way up through the centre. However, I fully intend to look outside the centre at those who are not involved and I'm keen to get the best players on board," he added.

Keenan has had good success with the Premier squad in the past and his experience of the Milk Cup is a key factor. He has not yet settled on a backroom team but he should have things in place over the next couple of weeks.
