Changes to player registrations, and the end of the transfer windows are some of things that will be up for consideration when the Fermanagh and Western Football League puts forward proposed alterations and additions to the Fermanagh and Western Football League rules at an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting next month.

The proposals have to be compliant with the One Player One Club guidelines and are due to fall in line with IFA regulations.

Currently, a player's registration becomes null and void at the end of each season and the player must then be registered for the start of the new season but under the new rules a player can be registered for anything from 28 days up to two years, meaning that clubs can register players for twice as long as they can do at present. It means that clubs will not have to get players to sign retainer forms at the end of the season, instead they will be registered for two seasons and at the end of that period they can be registered again. The same regulations will stay in place in terms of players being allowed to register for a maximum of three clubs over the course of a season although only permitted to play official games for two of those clubs.

However, changes have been made to when players can move clubs. There is currently a transfer window in place but that will be abandoned with players able to move anytime from June 1 to March 31. Clubs though cannot register players during the months of April or May.

Also, for a player to play in the first game of the season they must be registered by July 31 with their details recorded on the Central Registration System, this changing from the seven days prior to the date which is used at present. Thereafter a player must be registered not less than seven days prior to a match compared to the current 72 hours. The new rules also states: "A player's registration will become effective seven days from the date and time of the postmark on the envelope bearing his registration but he will be ineligible to play until his registration has been recorded of the Irish Football Association's Central Registration System."

There is also proposals to change the requirements for the Registration Forms with forms no longer needings photographic proof of identification.

If passed, a player will have to personally sign his name on a registration form and that signature must then be verified by a club official and and a witness. The league is also seeking to make every club have one or more email addresses to receive information from the league. Email is a faster and more economical method of sending and receiving information and the Fermanagh and Western are keen to use email to keep clubs up to date. This will include each club receiving an updated list of their eligible registered players sent to them by the Registrar before the start of each season and at regular intervals thereafter.
