Fermanagh's Kevin Curran celebrates his hat-trick against Vaag FK as Mark Cutler moves in to congratulate him.
Fermanagh 5; Vaag FK 0;
County Fermanagh's junior side progressed to the semi-finals of the Dunluce Trophy following a magnificent performance against Vaag FK from Norway. Fermanagh striker Kevin Curran bagged himself a hat trick as Fermanagh romped to a 5-0 victory at Anderson Park.
Following the disappointment of losing to Spartak Moscow, the junior side dominated early proceedings at a wind swept Anderson Park.
The first half was only five minutes old in when Fermanagh took an early lead through Kevin Curran.
Mark Cutler found space on the left hand side and delivered a tantalising cross into the area. The Norwegian keeper could only divert the cross into the path of striker Curran, who side-footed home to give Fermanagh the lead.
Vaag reacted positively to going behind and their midfields were beginning to have an influence in the centre of the park.
However, Fermanagh scored a shock second goal when they launched an excellent counter attack down the right. Jason Cluff created himself some space and whipped in a delightful ball.
Fermanagh winger Rory Flynn pounced on the bouncing ball and rifled home an unstoppable effort into the right hand corner to make it 2-0.
The junior side continued from where they had left off and it was Kevin Curran who made it three shortly after the second half had begun.
Curran was put through one on one with the Norwegian keeper and he calmly slotted home to make it 3-0.
It only took Curran another two minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Rory Flynn, who had worked tirelessly down the flanks, once again created space and crossed the ball into Curran who made no mistake with the finish to make it 4-0.
Vaag FK were still proving to be a threat on the break and keeper Daniel Ray made a stunning double save to deny the Norwegian side a goal.
With only a minute left on the clock, Fermanagh made it five when central defender Lee McNulty drove the ball across he box for Jason O'Brien to side foot home and make it 5-0.
Manager George Elliott was clearly delighted with the score line and was extremely happy with another excellent team performance. "To score five goals is fantastic and I thought at times we played some great football. I thought in the first half we maybe let them play too easily and we talked at half-time about closing them down and not allowing them any space."
"The second half was a much better team performance and we are all looking forward to a tough encounter against County Down tommorow."
