Ballinamallard United manager Whitey Anderson has signed former Manchester United youth player Chris Curran. Curran started his career at the Mallards before moving to United and had a short spell at Portadown last season. His signature will be a huge boost for Ballinamallard for the forthcoming season.
Curran has played in a couple of pre-season friendlies for Anderson's side, scoring against both Fivemiletown in a 1-0 win and Mountjoy in a 4-0 victory, and he could prove a very shrewd addition to the Ferney Park outfit.
Joining Curran at Ballinamallard is Gary Maguire, with the former Irvinestown Wanderers player giving Anderson further options although he could be without missing duo James McKenna and Michael Kerr for the start of the campaign.
The Mallards have lost striker Seamus Quigley who has re-signed for Clones Town but Stephen Sheridan has returned from college and will give Anderson something different in attack while players like Stuart Hutchinson and Nathan Khan stepped up into the first team squad at the end of last season and showed up well so they should have greater roles to play this season.
The Mallards will continue to warm up for the new season with the annual Gary Bownes Cup game against Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park, Dungannon on Saturday.
