Fermanagh Mallards 3; Donegal Celtic 2;
Fermanagh Mallards progressed through to Davisons Frudles Championship Cup final after seeing off Donegal Celtic in the semi-final at Celtic Park last week.
Both sides started strong the game well with plenty of pressure applied to both defences, and it was the Mallards who were to break the deadlock when Felicity Long hit a brilliant strike into the back of the net.
DC fought back and had plenty of chances but a strong Mallards defence was proving difficult to breakdown for the Belfast side and the Fermanagh side maintained their 1-0 advantage at the interval.
With only minutes gone in the second half, the Mallards doubled their money as Nicola Hynes slotted home but Donegal Celtic were to press hard in an effort to get back into the game.
A lofted ball into the box saw Mallards keeper Lisa Woods punch the ball away only for it to fall to a Celtic player who smacked it at goal but again Woods saved her side. And the goalkeeper was called on again to make a stop with her feet as the away side pushed on.
Eventually the pressure told as Donegal Celtic pulled a goal back, and soon after it was all level as the visitors struck once more.
However, it was the Mallards who were to go on and secure their place in the final as Lynne McFrederick grabbed the decisive goal in a nail biting conclusion.
The side deserve a lot of credit for their performance and they will be hoping to hang on to the cup they won last season.
