Division Three welcomes three new teams this season with the inclusion of Strabane, Strule United and Ederney into the Fermanagh and Western ranks although Drum United have withdrawn from the league.
This is notoriously a hard division to predict and with three new sides that will be the case again with all sides in the division entering the season with high hopes of doing well.
Derrychara United finished in fourth place last season and they will look to improve on that this time around under the management of David Robinson. Robinson has signed Ian McGuckian, Mervyn Funston, Matthew Gillian and Daniel McClintock while he has retained the services of Paul Crane, Stephen Curley and Derek Sharpe. And it is the manager’s goal to be in the shake up at the end of the campaign.
“What the committee told me was that they want to win it so that is the aim. I’ve brought in several new players and we’ve had a great pre-season. I think that Strabane and Dunbreen will be strong and Maguiresbridge could do well but we want to be up there with them,” said Robinson.
Maguiresbridge are under new management this season with Mervyn Elliott having taken charge and he states that promotion is the target for the side.
“The objective is to try and get promotion out of Division Three. I think we have the makings of a good side although Strabane, Strule and Ederney have come into the league and it is hard to know what they will be like,” stated Elliott.
It is thought that Strabane will be a strong side and among the challengers in the division while Orchard Farm will also hope to be in the mix at the end of the season.
Brian Hinchcliffe has come in and brought in a number of players including Sean McCusker, Ryan Brazil, Carl Morrison, Ryan Bell, Stuart Coalter and Jared McQuade and having strengthened the squad they will be hoping to be in a position to make a push to get out of Division Three.
