Hill in the squad for key Institute game
Ballinamallard manger Whitey Anderson remains focused on his side's league aspirations.
Ballinamallard United will face a tough away tie against Coleraine as their reward for beating Dundela in the JJB Sports Irish Cup last Saturday but manager Whitey Anderson's sole focus for now is this Saturday's league meeting with Institute at Ferney Park.
The tie against Coleraine will take place on February 11 but Anderson's Mallards side have two home league games prior to the cup clash with Tobermore following the game against Institute, and he is looking no further forward than them.
"Coleraine are a great side who are going well in the Premiership and hopefully we will be able to go up there with everybody fit and have a go. We're not looking at Coleraine though at the minute, our focus is on this Saturday and the league game at home to Institute. Institute have signed a couple of good players including midfielder Darren McAuley from Coleraine on loan and they are still in the hunt for the title in the league," said Anderson.
The Mallards boss is expecting nothing less therefore than a tough contest on Saturday although he feels it has the makings of a good game of football.
"Institute are as pure a football side are there is in the league and we too like to get the ball down and play football. The Ferney Park pitch will allow both teams to play football and it is set up for a good game and a competitive game. We know that Institute will not be easy but then again it won't be easy for Institute either. There is a good spirit on the camp and the boys are looking forward to getting back to league action. I have said that the league only really starts in March and we want to be at the top end challenging when March comes around," commented Anderson.
The Ballinamallard manager will have Craig Hill available on Saturday after the former youth player re-signed for the club after parting with Scottish Second Division side Airdrie United. Indeed the manager hopes to have a full deck to select from on Saturday.
"We shoud have Craig in the squad for Saturday and he will be an addition for us. He will add soomething to the dressing room and he is a good signing. Steve Feeney picked up a deadleg against Dundela but hopefully he will be ok and we will have a clean bill of health which is always important at this time of the season."
The Mallards returned to winning ways last week as they bounced back from defeat to Crumlin Star in the Intermediate Cup with a 3-0 victory over Dundela.
"Having lost the week before in Belfast it was important to bounce back which we did. It was a disciplined performance. We got three goals, kept a clean sheet and we made it into the next round so it was a good day," he concluded.
