Enniskillen Rangers had to fight back from two goals down to earn a share of the spoils from their clash with Fintona Swifts on Saturday.
Two goals from Fintona's Cathal Moore had put the home side in charge at half time but then a brace from Robbie Regan saw Rangers get back on level terms. And the game could have went either way in the final 15 minutes as both sides had chances that they failed to take as the contest finished with the sides having to settle for a point apiece.
Rangers had started the brighter of the sides with Robbie Regan and Davy Crozier causing problems on the right hand side and firing in a couple of dangerous crosses that were only missing the final touch.
A strong wind made conditions difficult but with 30 minutes on the clock, and against the run of play, Fintona grabbed the lead. Moore let fly with an effort from all of 35 yards and it caught Paddy Sweeney in the Rangers goal unawares, sailing into the top corner to make it 1-1.
Rangers then had a shout for a penalty when a Fintona defender fell in the box and the ball appeared to strike his hand but referee Barry Monaghan waved play on and as half time approached the home outfit doubled their money.
Eamon McHugh was adjudged to have fouled Aidan McCarron 25 yards from goal on the left hand side. Moore stepped up and fired the ball over the wall and into the bottom corner of Sweeney's net to give Fintona a two goal advantage at half time.
Rangers enjoyed plenty of possession in the early stages of the second half but Fintona's high line saw them caught offside on a number of occasions.
However, with 62 minutes played they pulled a goal back. A good 30 yard pass from Willie Burleigh saw Regan this time beat the offside trap as he raced in one-on-one with Fintona goalkeeper Ryan Monteith. Regan's shot was saved by the leg of Montieth but the ball rebounded back up to the Rangers man who had the simple task of tapping into the empty net.
Rangers introduced Liam Lindsay for Willie Armstrong and Lindsay went on to provide the assist for the 'Gers equaliser. In a similar goal to their first, Regan was put through one-on-one with Monteith and this time made no mistake in finishing first time.
Both sides had their chances in the final 15 minutes to snatch the victory with Regan denied by Montieth in another duel between the two while Adam Chartres had a goal ruled out for offside for Rangers.
Moore then went close to grabbing the win for Fintona as he raced in on goal from 40 yards out but Sweeney pushed his effort onto the post before the ball was hacked clear as the contest finished in a draw.
