The Lisnarick players celebrate after scoring against Derrychara in their top of the table clash on Saturday.<<

Derrychara United 0; Lisnarick 3;

LISNARICK manager Warren Holden was very pleased with his team, as they totally dominated Derrychara throughout to take all three points in there top of the table clash in Division Three at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday.

The in puts Lisnarick firmly in the driving seat in terms of promotion to Division Two with Holden's charges now eight points ahead of second placed Derrychara while Sion Mills Rec are a further four points adrift although they have played four games less than the league leaders.

Derrychara created very little in terms of scoring chances over the course of the 90 minutes, with Lisnarick bossing proceedings from the first whistle, notching up three goals in the process.

Both teams started fairly brightly, as both looked to gain the upper hand early on. It was Derrychara who had the best chances in the opening 15 minutes, somewhat against the run of the play, only to see an effort ricochet back off the crossbar.

That was to be their only big chance of the opening period as Lisnarick then began to totally control the contest. Midway through the first half, they got their just reward, taking the lead courtesy of a Pronsias O'Kane goal. Warren Holden floated in a free kick, and O'Kane was on hand to rifle in a volley to give the visitors the breakthrough.

It was all Lisnarick after that up until the interval, with Derrychara failing to make any impression on the Lisnarick goal. Indeed the away side were to take a two-goal lead into the break, as right on half time Shane Gormley's pinpoint cross found Kevin McCauley unmarked, and his header left the Derrychara keeper with no chance to double the advantage.

The home side had it all to do in the second half, but just couldn't find a killer pass to reduce their arrears early on. Things were to get a whole lot worse with an hour to play as well, as Lisnarick effectively put the result to bed. Shane Gormley was again the provider, this time setting up Pronsias O'Kane for his second of the contest, the Derrychara fight now looked all but over.

Indeed that was the end of the home side's chances in this one, as they failed to find the net, and Lisnarick held out to record a pretty comfortable away win.

The visiting manager Warren Holden was very pleased overall. He said, "We played very well today, and dominated for most of the game. The work-rate from the lads was brilliant, I couldn't have asked for any better."
