Glasgow Rangers have confirmed on their official Twitter feed that they have reported "unacceptable sectarian abuse" of Enniskillen's Andy Little to the police.

Little who is a free agent after his contract with the troubled Scottish outfit expired, had received abuse on social network site Twitter and responded on Tuesday via his Twitter account by calling the perpetrator "a vile human being" whom he would not give "the pleasure of having his latest sectarian tweet broadcast to everyone." Northern Ireland international, and former Ballinamallard United player Little was the guest of honour at the Model Primary School's Presentation Night on Tuesday and later that night he tweeted: "Got a good education and learned some manners at that school - pity a couple of people on twitter tonight hadn't done the same!" On their own twitter feed, Rangers stated on Tuesday that: "The club has this evening been made aware of unacceptable sectarian abuse directed at Andrew Little. The matter will be reported to the police." Meanwhile, Little's fellow Fermanagh man Kyle Lafferty has indicated his intention to leave the club. Lafferty is among a group of players who have lodged objections to their transfer to a "newco" Rangers. A statement from lawyer Margaret Gribbon of Bridge Litigation read: "Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Jamie Ness and Kyle Lafferty have instructed PFA lawyers Bridge Litigation UK to object to their transfer to the Rangers' newco." Charles Green's newco Rangers has submitted an application to be granted entry into the Scottish Premier League and will face a vote by all 12 top-flight clubs on July 4.

However, enough clubs have already stated they will be voting against Rangers' application to leave the new club facing the prospect of having to apply for entry to the Scottish Football League.
