The Fermanagh & Western AGM at the Bawnacre on Monday night was a low key affair with little in the way of change for the forthcoming season.

In his address, Fermanagh & Western Football League Chairman Neil Jardine stated that clubs need to greatly improve their administration. He explained that over £3000 was paid out by Fermanagh & Western clubs in fines which were avoidable and simply down to poor administration including late entries, non attendance at AGMs and EGMs as well as not returning referee and player marking scorecards.

He also touched on the abandonment of games and stressed that clubs need to look at themselves before pointing the finger elsewhere.

“Everybody looks for excuses in these situations and it is usually referees. Teams should stop looking for scapegoats and start looking at themselves, their own players, their own team,” he said.

There was only one contest on the night and that was for the Registrar position which was vacated by Gordon Lee who stood down.

Malcolm McVitty of Magheraveely and St. Pat’s clubman Rory Lynch were both nominated for the position with McVitty winning the vote to take his place among the office bearers for the 2014/15 season. There was also a position to be filled on the Management Committee following Darren Grugan’s decision to step down in April. This was filled by Sean McGread with the remainder of committee re-elected en bloc. It was also decided on the night that Lisnarick Reserves and Derrychara United Reserves would be promoted to Reserve Division Two, leaving all three Reserve Leagues with ten teams.
