Strathroy conceded an early goal but hit back to maintain their perfect record at the top of the league.

Kesh had been on the end of ten goal hammering from Strathroy on the opening day of the season, and although they could not hold on to their early lead this time around, manager Niall Amos was content with their display. “I was happy with the performance, it was just a pity we couldn’t hold out for a while longer when we were 1-0 up,” he said. “You never know what might have happened if we had been able to frustrate them, but they are top of the league for a reason. They knock the ball about and keep the ball well. If we could have got something out of it it would have been a nice bonus but hopefully we can keep going now. We seem to have found our feet and we are playing alright so it will be an interesting second half of the season.” Strathroy were unable hit repeat their feat of hitting double figures, but boss Seamus Fanthorpe was happy to take three points after going behind. “We beat Kesh well earlier in the season and I tried to drill into the boys that there should be no complacency before kick off,” he said. “They scored and maybe it was a blessing in disguise to be honest because it forced us to respond. We took full control of the game from then on.” Kesh’s goal after six minutes came from a break away following a Strathroy corner. Nicky Noble broke down the right wing and crossed for Mark Jones to fire past the keeper. Their unexpected lead lasted less than ten minutes however, when Aidan McCaffrey floated in a corner and Benny Boyle headed in.

With half an hour on the clock Strathroy took the lead thanks to the boot of defender Kyle Allen, who turned an Aidan McCaffrey cross into his own net.

Cathal Moore scored on the stroke of half time to give the away side a commanding lead at the break, and five minutes into the second half Boyle got his second goal of the game with a back post header from a corner.

Any hope of an unlikely Kesh comeback was dashed when Alvin Anderson was sent off for dissent after 60 minutes, and although Kesh held firm for the remainder of the game Strathroy claimed all three points.
