Both the Fermanagh Milk Cup teams will have glamour ties to look forward to following the draw for the tournament which took place yesterday (Wednesday).

The draw, which was made by Northern Ireland record goal-scorer David Healy, pitted the Premier side against Spanish outfit Malaga CF with the Juniors having been paired with Rangers, who will no doubt prove a popular draw for supporters.

The Premier side also face games against Scotland’s Partick Thistle and County Londonderry while the Juniors take on Dundalk SL and AS Roma USA.

“I’m happy with the draw,” declared Premier boss Robbie Walker.

“We have a good variety of opposition to look forward to testing ourselves against and obviously Malaga is the big one for us. We would be expecting that they will be of a high standard and it is a great for the guys and one for them to look forward to playing. We will know the order that the games come next week and we can now focus on different aspects of the games and maybe study videos of the opposition,” he said.

Junior manager Sam Gamble was also satified with the draw for his squad.

“I’m glad for the boys that they got one glamour game to play. Rangers will be well supported so there should be a good crowd at that game and it is something for the guys to look forward to,” said Gamble.

“In terms of the other teams; any time Fermanagh have played Dundalk in the competition it has been close and we will hopefully do a bit of homework on them while it is hard to know what sort of team the Americans will be but we wopuld expect them to be good on the ball and physically strong. I would be pleased with the draw,” he added.

Meanwhile, both sides have named their respective captains for the competition. Walker has selected Philip Beacom as captain with Conor McGee as vice-captain.

“Both the boys are very vocal on the pitch which is good and they are both experienced players,” said Walker.

Gamble has opted for Jake Irvine to lead his side into the tournament, and he feels it was an obvious choice.

“Jake has captained Northern Ireland so I feel he was a natural choice for the captaincy and one that we couldn’t ignore. He is not the most vocal but he will lead by example,” he stated.
