Phil O’Connor has been named as Fermanagh minor manager for the forthcoming season.
The Belnaleck clubman takes over the reins from Keith Reilly who stepped down from the position in September.
O’Connor has a good knowledge of the talent available at this age group having worked with the U17 squad last year, steering them through to the Ulster League Shield Final where they were narrowly pipped by Derry in Healy Park.
O’Connor, who was also involved with the Fermanagh Schools team who participated in the Markey Cup last year, has named Liam McDermott, Stephen Jackson and Mark Gallagher in his backroom team and it is expected that he will further add to that in the coming weeks.
The management have already overseen three trials and the Enniskillen Gaels players will be added after their Ulster Minor Club campaign comes to an end.
The following players attended the latest of the trials which was held last night (Wednesday) at Lissan as the new management team starts to assess the talent pool.
They were: Darragh McGurn, Gareth Presley, Oran McCarney, Conor McGovern (Belnaleck); James McQuaid, Seamus Moane (Brookeborough); James Boyle, Fearghal McGovern, Luke Flanagan (Derrylin); Aidan McKenna, Jack Love, Gavin McGovern, Oisin Smyth, Conor Maguire (Derrygonnelly Harps); Ben McCann, Gareth Deery (Erne Gaels); Seanie Mahon, Ryan Keane (Irvinestown); Rory McAloon, Paul Breen, Liam Owens (Kinawley); Patrick Maguire, Kevin Smyth (Lisnaskea); Barry McPhillips (Maguiresbridge); Sean Mc Dermott (Newtownbutler); Pol McKervey, David McKenna, Sean Cassidy (St Joseph’s); Cameron McBrien, Conor McDermott (St Patrick’s); Colm McNally (Teemore); Lorcan McStravick, Ryan Breen (Tempo)
