The financial report is often the most talked about part of County Convention with negative balance sheets having been the norm in recent years.
However, on Monday night there was much more positive news with the County Board reporting a profit of close to £30,000 over the last 12 months, a big change from a deficit of nearly £17,000 a year ago.
Income in 2016 rose by over £100,000 to £740,588 although expenditure also increased over the last 12 months, rising from £655,751 in 2015 to £710,903.
A big part in the rise of income came from funds raised by Club Eirne who provided Fermanagh County Board with over £107,800 in 2016 compared to £34,500 a year previously. Indeed, Ger Treacy, Chairman of Club Eirne, made a commitment that Club Eirne would provide £150,000 to the Fermanagh County Board in 2017.
Another increase in income came in the Summer Camps which brought in an extra £23,000 in 2016.
There was only one election that took place on the night, that for Ulster Council with Brian Armitage, Jim Tummon and outgoing Chairman Patsy Dolan going for the two places.
After the first round of votes Brian Armitage exceeded the quota with 46 first preference votes, Jim Tummon has 23 and Patsy Dolan had 8. And Tummon crossed the line on second preference votes to join Armitage as Fermanagh’s Ulster Council representatives.
With Dolan’s five years up at Chairman, he was replaced in the top seat by Enniskillen Gaels Greg Kelly while Phil Flanagan was elected as Vice-Chairman, taking the spot vacated by Kelly.
All other out-going Management Committee members were returned while Stephen Jackson and John McElroy were elected as the two delegates to Congress.
