Fermanagh hurlers will take on Tyrone this Saturday in the semi-final of the Ulster Shield and while captain Ryan Bogue will be aiming for a win, he stresses that their main focus remains on the Lory Meagher Cup.

Fermanagh’s league campaign failed to really ignite with injuries to key players hitting the Ernemen hard while Tyrone reached the final of the division above where they were beaten by Donegal.

“They are a level above us in terms of the league and they lost in the final last weekend so I’m sure they will be looking to bounce back with a win this Saturday.

“We played them twice last year and we should have beaten them the first day before losing in extra time and they beat us the second time as well. We need to try and get to that level and Saturday is a chance for us to see where we are,” said Bogue.

Fermanagh’s goal since the start of the season though has been the Lory Meagher and Bogue states that remains the target going into Saturday’s game.

“The Lory Meagher has been our main focus and this gives us another competitive game in preparation for that and any competitive games that we can get will only benefit us. We also have a few injuries at the minute so I’m not sure sort of side we will have out on Saturday.”

However, it provides Fermanagh with the chance to make an Ulster final and Bogue says that they will be going all out for the win against their neighbours.

“At the end of the day, it is the chance to get to an Ulster final and a chance to ultimately win a piece of silverware which doesn’t come around too often so we’ll definitely be going for the win. The winner will play Derry or Monaghan and these are the types of teams that you want to be playing against and testing yourself against,” added the Fermanagh midfielder.
