The search for a new Fermanagh manager is set to begin as County Chairman Greg Kelly confirmed that nominations will be sought at the August County Board meeting and a Selection Committee will then be set up to conduct interviews for the post.

McGrath stepped down from the position late last week but already there is plenty of speculation as to who will fill the vacant hot seat with the likes of Dom Corrigan, Kieran Donnelly, Martin Greene and Nigel Seaney already linked to the position.

Dom Corrigan has been widely tipped for a possible return to the position that he previously held in 2002 and 2003 when he lead Fermanagh to a Division One semi-final and an All Ireland quarter-final.

The experienced Corrigan has enjoyed no shortage of success at club level with the likes of Clontibret and last year led Killyclogher, where he is still at the helm, to the Tyrone Senior Championship title.

Corrigan’s two sons, Tomás and Ruairi are both key players in the current Fermanagh set up although it is unclear yet as to whether he is interested in returning to inter-county management.

Another name linked with the job is former player Kieran Donnelly. The Brookeboro man is a former Fermanagh minor manager and was the trainer under Peter Canavan when he served as Fermanagh manager in 2012 and 2013. Donnelly has also had a spell as Cavan Gaels manager and is now in charge of current Monaghan kingpins Scotstown having taken over from now Cavan manager Mattie McGleenan.

Martin Greene’s achievements at his home club Derrygonnelly Harps is sure to bring him to the attention of the powers that be. In his first managerial role, Greene has steered the Harps to back-to-back league and championship doubles while they currently sit top of the Division One standings.

And another Fermanagh man who could well come into the reckoning is former Irvinestown and Fermanagh player Nigel Seaney. Seaney led Trillick to the Tyrone Senior Football Championship title for the first time in 29 years when they claimed the crown in 2015.
