Roslea Shamrocks v Ederney
Sunday, August 27,
6.30pm in Tempo

The last quarter final in the senior championship will see Roslea and Ederney clash on Sunday evening.
The game is down for a 6.30pm start in Tempo and will bring the curtain down on what should be a very interesting opening weekend of championship football.
Six weeks ago Ederney would have been tipped heavily for the win as Roslea were struggling to find any consistency.
However over recent times the Shamrocks have hit a rich vein of form that has included wins over their opponents on Sunday evening and county champions Derrygonnelly.
Roslea, who won four senior titles in five seasons between 2010 and 2014, have had some big name players return to the fold.
Kevin Cosgrove has added much needed ball winning ability around the middle while James McMahon has returned from a summer in the States.
Also back and playing well is the mercurial Seamus Quigley who is revelling in his role at centre half forward.
Add these three to the prodigious talent of Sean Quigley, the resourcefulness of Niall Cassidy and the purposefulness of Conor Quigley and it is easy to see why Roslea suddenly have a much more healthy look to their team.
Their manager, Brian Gormley, concedes the point that it is good to have a extensive panel to pick from but in terms of hunger to regain the title he says that is something still very much to be proven;
“It is nice to have these players back and to have a stronger panel available but we won’t know about the hunger until the game starts on Sunday. That’s just the way it is,” acknowledged Gormley.
The former Tyrone star knows that Ederney will be ready for a battle;
“They are a good team. Move the ball very quickly and they finished in the top four of the league so it will probably go right down to the wire.”
Ederney are still waiting to make that break through in the senior championship and certainly have a squad capable of doing just that should they hit their potential. Laced with county experience in the shape of current players Chris Snow, Paul and Declan McCusker and former player Marty McGrath, Ederney are not without their own star quality.
Add in the exciting emerging talent of Ryan Morris in attack and the steady play of the likes of Stephen McElrone and St Josesph’s are a team to be reckoned with.
Their manager, Mickey Cassidy, reports that the squad are in good spirits ahead of the game;
“Things have been going well. We have a few men carry niggles but we should be OK. Roslea are coming good at the right time and they have a lot of big players back and we know we will have to be playing really well to compete.”
This Ederney team haven’t quite delivered on their undoubted potential in the championship while Roslea have to prove that they have what to takes to scale the mountain again.
Something has to give on Sunday.
