One of Fermanagh ladies' most talented players has once again been recognised, this time on a National scale. Caroline Little received a once in a lifetime call from GAA headquarters on Friday and now she finds herself amongst the elite of ladies football and preparing for this year's All Star trip to San Francisco.

The unassuming 24 year-old is the first Fermanagh player to ever make the selection and when she took the call from Helen O'Rourke, Chief Executive of the Ladies Association, she was completely overwhelmed and in shock.

"I just went all quiet and when she asked me did I want to think about it I said yes. When I got off the phone I just thought I better ring her back and tell her I want to go," said Caroline.

Little who is employed by Quinn Therm had a split second hesitation because she would be the only Fermanagh person going but she quickly recognised what a terrific opportunity this is.

"It will be an amazing trip and I just thought I might never get the chance again. It's not often Fermanagh get to an All Ireland final after all!"

Little hit an impressive 1-05 in the All Ireland final against Clare and was named the Ulster GAA Writers Ladies Player of the Year last November. Yet the humble Lisnaskea player is much happier to do her talking on the pitch and avoids the limelight and despite her best efforts to keep her place on the All Star trip low key her sister Catriona "announced it to everyone" she laughs.

Now though, the idea she is going has sunk in it fills her with excitement and Caroline admits she can't wait to go. The opportunity to play alongside the crème de la crème of ladies football is both daunting and exciting for the modest star.

"It will be a great experience and it's brilliant to get the chance. They might show me up!" jokes Caroline. The fact of the matter is Caroline has earned her place and thoroughly deserves it as she flies off on March 31 to fly the Fermanagh flag in San Fran.
