Sligo 1-10; Fermanagh 1-07;
Fermanagh manager Darren Chapman is hoping that this performance against Sligo last Friday night was only a glitch as his side went down by three points to the Yeatsmen in a challenge game.
With a full strength squad available that included senior players Rory Foy, Ryan Jones, Daryl Keenan and Chris O'Brien, Chapman was looking to see his side put on a good display as they get ready for an Ulster Championship meeting with the winners of the Tyrone v Derry game, but instead he was left disappointed with the showing although he feels it may be a one off.
"To be brutally honest we were attrocious. It was a very disappointing run out but hopefully it is just a blip. Maybe this is the wake up call that we need and it is better for it to have happened now instead of in the championship. We will now have to refocus as we have another challenge game against Leitrim this week," stated Chapman.
Fermanagh struggled to get going in the first half as the home side managed to build up a six point advantage, 1-05 to 0-02, the Fermanagh points coming from Daryl Keenan and Chris O'Brien.
Richard O'Callaghan and Joe O'Brien were Fermanagh's best two performers on the night with O'Callaghan put in a good shift at midfield but with Sligo cleaning up the breaking balls in the middle third they continued to have the better of matters.
Joe O'Brien bagged the Fermanagh goal in the second half and the half forward also added on a point with Keenan and Kevin Connolly also chipping in with scores but Sligo always managed to keep their noses in front and in the end they ran out three point victors, 1-10 to 1-07.
