Teemore caused something of a shock last weekend as they defeated Roslea away from home in a clash of the Shamrocks. Teemore kept the scoreboard ticking over throughout and showed about just enough hunger to win the game at the end.

Michael Wallace of Teemore said after the game, “We dug in deep to beat Roslea and I am absolutely delighted for the whole bunch of players. I thought we were excellent against a very good side and these two points will stand to us as the league unfolds. Barry Owens was immense at full back on Seamus Quigley, while Ryan Maguire had a terrific hour at corner forward. Gerry Quinlan and Hugh Brady dictated matters and I am just delighted to come away with the two points.” The Teemore side raced into a two point lead early on with Declan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Maguire slotting over before Roslea were to score a trio of points from Sean Quigley (2) and Seamus Quigley to make it 0-03 to 0-02 with 13 minutes played.

The sides were to exchange points once again, the Teemore score coming from Jason McCaffrey while the Roslea score coming from a free supplied by Sean Quigley to make it 0-04 to 0-03 in a close battle.

Roslea were now starting to settle better and they raced clear by kicking two fine scores from Seamus Quigley and one from Sean Quigley to push four clear. But Teemore are a side that don’t sit back and they scored a delightful goal after good work by Ryan Maguire who squared the ball to Gerry Quinlan and he finished to the back of the net. And soon after this an Eoin McManus point had brought the sides level at 0-07 to 1-04 at half time.

The second half was once again a close affair with Teemore keeping their noses just in front throughout. Teemore pressed ahead with a well struck Patrick McManus point but this was answered by Roslea’s Sean Quigley to level up proceedings once again.

Points were traded right the way through, with Teemore’s point scorers Declan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Maguire, Eoin McManus (free) and Joey Donegan, while the Roslea second half point scorers coming from the boots of Seamus Quigley, Sean Quigley and substitute Conor Beggan hitting two fine scores although they lost defender Conor Quigley to a collarbone injury.

Teemore though managed to stay ahead and they held on to record a one point victory to follow on from their draw with Derrygonnelly last weekend.
