An impressive contribution of 0-05 from Tempo’s Daryl Keenan went a long way to helping Tempo record a five point win over Belcoo last Saturday evening in Tempo.

The win further cements Tempo’s position in the top four in Division One but for Belcoo the struggles continue.

The O’Rahilly’s now find themselves with just one win in the last ten games and attacker Johnny Feeley knows his side must improve. “We are bitterly disappointed with our overall performance. The defence was superb as usual for us but going forward we really just were not good enough. We will need to work on that part of our game but it’s full credit to Tempo, they have the ability to hurt any side. We had improved our performances over the last number of weeks so hopefully we can get it right coming into the business end of the year,” said Feeley.

Tempo custodian Stephen Jackson was rightfully thrilled to pick up another two points and a further clean sheet for himself.

“They gave us a tough game earlier on in the season so we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Belcoo are a good side and have some quality players in their ranks but it’s been a good two weeks for us with the wins over Teemore and now Belcoo so we are in good shape going into this weekend’s Championship game with Devenish.” Tempo raced into a three point lead early on in a low scoring and cagey first half with Daryl Keenan, Niall McElroy and Ryan Bogue all landing scores before Belcoo’s Johnny Feeley hit a well struck point from 30 yards to make it 0-03 to 0-01 after 19 minutes.

Daryl Keenan who was a handful throughout the evening and he added a further Tempo score before Belcoo’s Ryan Leonard popped up in the attack to make it 0-04 to 0-02 at half time.

The second half started with both sides knocking over a point apiece to make it 0-05 to 0-03.

Tempo sub Declan Campbell got up the right wing to score before Paul McGrath scored a real beauty from his left foot to keep Tempo pegged back.

However, Tempo were playing the more enterprising football and Belcoo were time after time running into a blanket of Tempo defenders.

Niall McCusker made it 0-06 to 0-03 before Damien Kelly and Daryl Keenan both split the posts as Tempo looked to push on for the win.

Ciaran Flaherty replied for the away side to make it 0-08 to 0-05 with 10 minutes remaining.

Flaherty and Niall McCusker then exchanged scores before Tempo’s Daryl Keenan found gaps in the Belcoo defence and knocked over two further points as Tempo finished the stronger of the two sides.

Tempo’s Damien Kelly lofted over a score before Feeley replied for Belcoo with a simple free as Tempo withstood any Belcoo comeback to secure a further two points.
