Just like the championship final a fortnight ago, Derrygonnelly were to outclass Enniskillen to secure a league and championship double, the Harps leading from start to finish with the result never in any real doubt.

Derrygonnelly settled quickest with Gavin McGovern setting up Colm Jones to blast his shot to the net for a perfect start. Nathan Jones immediately added a point for Derrygonnelly as they went 1-01 to 0-00 ahead after nine minutes.

The Harps were bossing the early exchanges and Jones was once again put through for a one on one chance but this time Enniskillen goalkeeper Cian Newman saved brilliantly.

Enniskillen finally got into the game but Callum Jones and Ronan Quinn both had efforts blocked down, while at the other end Derrygonnelly were to lose corner forward Conor Cassidy to a serious looking ankle injury.

This did not overly disrupt Derrygonnelly though as Odhran McBrien weaved his way through the middle of the field before pointing while at the back Derrygonnelly duo Conor Cameron and James McGrail were stopping anything that came into the danger zone.

Enniskillen’s Conall Quinn, who was his side’s best player on the night, had a 23rd minute shot stopped superbly by Derrygonnelly goalkeeper Oisin Smyth, while Eoin Beacom stroked over a point in the 25th minute to finally get the Gaels on the scoreboard.

Colm Jones fired over a free for the Harps in response and in an impressive two minute spell just before half time Derrygonnelly were to coast in for two goals.

First up Jones played a delightful ball into Jack Love who made no mistake with his effort and 40 seconds later Jason McGlone tucked the ball to the net after Jones’ initial shot was saved by Newman to leave it 3-03 to 0-01 at the break.

Enniskillen started the second half with a goal to give them hope when a John Rehill shot fell to Gavin Greene who smashed his shot low into the corner to make it 3-03 to 1-01.

Ronan Beattie then picked up a yellow card for a late challenge on Colm Jones and from the free Odhran McBrien pointed.

Shane McGullion, who got through a serious amount of work in the busy midfield section, then played in Gavin McGovern to put Derrygonnelly 3-05 to 1-01 ahead.

Conall Quinn who worked hard at the back for the Gaels found Timmy Boyd with a fine pass and Boyd slipped in substitute Conor Rippey to fire to the net and cut the gap to seven between the sides.

However, for the final 14 minutes it was all one way traffic as Derrygonnelly got on top in all sectors of the field.

Nathan Jones and Gavin McGovern knocked over points while a rare Enniskillen attack resulted in Eoin Beacom hitting the crossbar.

Derrygonnelly continued to tag on scores with Jones pointing before Jack Love crashed home a delightful effort to the net with six minutes remaining.

Nathan Jones and Jack Love both pointed while the Derrygonnelly goal threat still continued with Colm Jones sweeping through the Enniskillen defence to allow Gavin McGovern to finish to the net.

And Derrygonnelly were to finish the game with two further scores, both coming from the excellent Colm Jones as they ran out convincing winners.

Next up for Championship winners Derrygonnelly is the Paul McGirr Ulster Club tournament where they will play Crosserlough of Cavan.
