Both these sides were met with managerial turmoil coming into the tie but it was Roslea who were to come out of the game with the much sought-after two points.

Erne Gaels who were managed on Sunday by Club chairman Declan McCaffrey and Dara Keown after former manager Eddie O’Reilly resigned had Declan McCaffrey on hand after the game to give a few words “I’m extremely disappointed with the defeat, a good start to the league was paramount to our hopes this year as we were looking to push on from the previous two seasons. We matched Roslea in the opening half but the difference on the day was the Quigleys with Sean being very dominant around midfield.” Both sides started amazingly with a goal apiece as first up Roslea’s Sean Quigley did well to feed in James Boyle who made no mistake to bury his shot low and into the corner past Stephen Ryder. However, right back up the field came Erne Gaels and Damien Lyons showed his cool to take the ball past two Roslea defenders before hitting the back of the net after a fine save from Sean Boyle as the game drew level in the 11th minute at 1-00 each.

A Barry McCann free then nudged Erne Gaels ahead before Sean Quigley equalled the game up once again. Quigley and McCann added further frees to their sides tally as both sides were tied at 1-02 apiece in the 18th minute.

Sean Quigley, Ruairi McGuiness and Diarmuid McAleer all then pointed for Roslea before just on the stroke of half time Fermanagh minor star Luke Ryder showed good composure to fire over a great score to make it Erne Gaels 1-03 Roslea 1-05 at half time.

Roslea were to start the second half in fantastic fashion as two Sean Quigley points were sandwiched between a Shane Lynch goal as the Shamrocks firmly put their stamp on the tie to push 2-07 to 1-03 ahead.

A 42nd minute Barry McCann point was the first score for Erne Gaels in the second half while Roslea replied with a solitary score from Seamus Quigley as the game swept midway into the second half.

Seamus Quigley then did wonderfully well to adeptly flick the ball into the path of Shane Lynch who fired his shot to the back of the net as Roslea built up an unassailable 3-08 to 1-04 lead with 13 minutes of the game left.

Erne Gaels were to be reduced to 13 men as first Damien Lyons picked up a second yellow card before Seamus Ryder received his marching orders via a red card for a stamp at Sean Quigley which resulted in the Fermanagh ace being substituted.

Conor Quigley and Shane Lynch added further points for Roslea as the game neared its end but Erne Gaels did not throw in the towel and Barry McCann fired over some wonderful frees. However, the Belleek side never really troubled goalkeeper Sean Boyle and, as such, any sort of a sensational comeback was never on the cards.
