Ederney secured the MFL Division Two title with a five point victory over Lisnaskea in Brookeboro on Tuesday night.

An entertaining encounter saw St. Joseph’s go in at the break with a four point lead, 2-02 to 0-04, only for Lisnaskea to respond in the third quarter to move in front.

However, Ederney finished the game the stronger of the teams and a late Conor McGee goal secured the title as they ran out five point winners on the night.

The St. Joseph’s outfit got off to a good start to the game with John Carrigan finding the back of the net twice to put them in control of the contest.

Sean Cassidy and Ryan Morris were to also add on points for Ederney while Lisnaskea had scores from Niall Keenan, Hayden Lynch, Aaron Calders and a free from Keenan.

It was the Emmetts though who took a grip on proceedings in the opening period of the second half as they pushed on to take the lead. Goalkeeper Colin Copeland stepped up to bang over a ‘45, Keenan converted another two frees and Ryan Moran swooped for a goal. With Chris McCabe, Ryan Flanagan and Josh McKenna also among the points, Lisnaskea managed to push into a three point advantage with Ederney staying in touch thanks to points from Ryan Morris frees.

However, Ederney were to regain the upperhand as the game drew to a close and Morris, Sean Cassidy and Michael Maguire landed points to put them two ahead before Conor McGee slotted home a goal with the last kick of the game to seal a five point victory.
