The weekend of championship action gets underway on Friday night when Enniskillen face Kinawley for a place in the Intermediate Championship semi-final.

The sides drew when they met in the league earlier in the season and Enniskillen manager Warren Dixon feels it will be similarly close in Lisnaskea on Friday evening.

“We’re expecting it to be a tight encounter, much along the same lines as it was in the league earlier this year and it is hard to see there being a kick of the ball in it either way. It is a game though that we are looking forward to and the boys have prepared well,” said Dixon.

Kinawley failed to make the top five in Division Two, leaving them in Division 2B after the split while manager Iggy Gallagher has not been able to get his strongest side out together on any sort of a consistent basis. He is though hopeful to have a full squad to pick from on Friday night.

“It has been a difficult season and we have had no consistency with four boys being in the county squad. Hopefully though we will have all our players avilable on Friday night and we’ll be hoping to get into the next round,” he commented.

Gallagher will be looking for big performances from the Corrigan boys, Tomas and Ruairi among others as he looks to break down a solid Gaels defence.

“We know that it will be tough. In the league they have been one of the top scorers and also have the meanest defence so that’s an indication of the challenge that is ahead for us,” he added.

Certainly the addition of the Corrigan boys gives Kinawley a much more threatening look to their attack and the Gaels will know that the key for them will be curbing the influence of the pair. To that end, Ryan McCluskey will be crucial to Enniskillen in organising things at the back with Paddy Reihill also impressing in the half back line while they will look to Richard O’Callaghan to give them a good footing in the middle third. And further forward Enniskillen will be hoping for a big performance from Conor McAleer, who has looked sharp in recent weeks, along with Conor Watson and Sean McAleer.

Defensively, Kinawley will need James Allen and Niall Bogue to be at their best while Sean McManus will be expected to get his hands on plenty of ball in the middle third. In addition to the Corrigans, Kinawley will also need Shaun Doherty to grab a fair share of scores.
