March Monthly Medal March Monthly Medal With the first Monthly Medal Competition played in excellent conditions, Eugene Donohoe (11) set a high standard for the coming months returning a Net 68 to win Division One. Donohoe started well with three pars before making a slight slip with a bogey on the fourth. Donohoe then completed the rest of the round with a birdie on the seventh and a further six pars and six bogeys. Division Two prize went to Alan McCutcheon (14) with an equally impressive Net 65 from three birdies, four pars and 11 bogeys. Stepping up to take the Division Three prize was Bob Clements (19) with a net 70 in a round that included five pars and nine bogeys.

Easter Egg-Stravaganza Easter Saturday was a day for golfers with a love of chocolate to show their skill to win that extra Extravagant Easter egg. And it was Frank Bannon (19) who walked away with the biggest egg on the day with 41 points.

With a run of bogeys on the first five holes, Bannon got the taste for chocolate back with a birdie on the par 3 sixth and pars on the seventh and ninth. Finishing the round with mainly bogeys Bannon was able to settle down on Easter Sunday with that extra big Easter egg. With a slightly unsteady start of a triple bogey on the first hole, Bob Clements (19) also got that taste for chocolate and started a run of bogey and par play to lift the second place egg with 39 points. The third place egg went Alan McCutcheon (14) with 38 points from a round that included one birdie, seven pars and seven bogeys. The fourth place egg was won by Steven Allister (12) with 37 points which included two birdies and six pars.

Not to miss out on the final egg-stravaganza was Sean Maxwell (12) also with 37 points.

The front nine prize egg was won by James Lawn with the back nine egg going to Captain John O'Neill.

This week's Competitions This Saturdays competition is the Western Cars Open with the Bob Chambers Cup being held on Sunday.

On Tuesday 14th for Ladies is the Orla Foster Monthly Medal with the Kevin Slowey Open being held on Wednesday 15th .

March 200 Club Prize winners Congratulations to the following winners in the March 200 Club Prize draw held on March 28. 1st - Mark Smyth, 2nd - Roy Tarbotton, 3rd – Tommy Duffy, 4th – Jack Armstrong, 5th - Ken Davison. Congratulations also go to John Kempton who won the Members Reserve Car Parking Space for the next year.

Ladies Section Winter Sweep The Winter Sweep nine hole competitions had good entries. Patricia Durnien was the leading light with 27 pts in week three. The stars of other weekly sweeps were Sally Redman, Helena Tisdale and Marina Brownlee Patricia also scored 24 pts in our Tuesday nine hole last week.

St. Patrick's Day Cup / Car Park open Jennie Scholes was the lady winner of the St. Patrick's Day Competition with a very good score of 37 pts. Anne Reihill was second with 33 pts. Anne followed on by winning the Ladies Car Park Open with a wonderful score of 43 pts. Sandra McElroy was second with 36 pts.

Bring and Win The Bring and Win 9 hole competition was a windy affair. Best on the day were Sandra McElroy and Tanya Cathcart who got first pick of the prizes at the Supper night.

Supper Night The Lady Captain, Audrey Williamson, welcomed a large turnout to the first supper night of the year and hoped that we would all have a good summer of golf. Team Captains for the year were announced and the club match plays, Guinness and Hospice, entry lists were circulated. Still time for others to enter. The following players were presented with 2014 trophies - Rita Mckechnie - Bronze Medal, Marina Brownlee - Silver Medal, Jackie Crawford - Silver Spoon, Alice Hurst - Junior Medal.

Easter Egg – Stravaganza A good turnout of ladies competed for the various eggs that were up for grabs in our special Easter Egg Extravaganza. Top chick in this event was Sandra McElroy with a winning score of 41 points. Second place went to Past Captain Orla Foster with a fine 40 points. Third place went to Doreen Cathcart, fourth to Mags McCaffrey and fifth place to Sally Redman. Front nine went to Eileen Cochrane and the back nine to Deirdre McSorley.

Tom Sheridan Memorial Cup.

Eileen Cochrane was the best of the ladies in a competition dominated by our male counterparts.

Eileen scored a fine 34 points and was closely followed by Anne Reihill in second place.

Trip to Farnham The Ladies Day Away to Farnham this Saturday April 11. Lady Vice Captain Rita has all the details posted on the noticeboard.

The LEGS first competition is on Thursday April 23 at 11am, ably organised by Doreen, Jennie and Audrey.

The Team Captains are already scouting the fairways for talent. Lots of players are needed this year as we have entered 4 teams for the Northern District Competitions, plus the Tyrone and Fermanagh Senior Alliance and the Tyrone and Fermanagh match play cup. So April is a busy month.
