US Open Preview: Chambers Bay The second Major of the year, the US Open, takes place this month (June 18-21) and will be played over Chambers Bay Golf Course, a newcomer to the circuit.

Constructed in 2007 the links style course promises to follow in the tradition of the US Open of being a particularly tough test. USGA Executive Director Mike Davis hosted a preview of the mysterious course south of Seattle and suggested that even the best in golf will have little chance unless they arrive early and play often. The course does indeed look like it’ll be a challenge for the world’s best and we’re sure to have plenty of excitement judging by how the course and potential layout looks.

The public course, which opened on the shores of the Puget Sound in Washington State in 2007, will play like a seaside links with vast firm-running sloping fairways, undulating greens, uneven lies and elevation changes. Taking into account all the required skills to master a course like this then one local player Graeme McDowell may well fit the bill. His experience around Portrush and Rathmore has equipped him well with all the necessary shots required to do well on such terrain. At odds of 70/1 the Portrush man represents great each way value.

Product Review: Odyssey Works putters combine many of the brand’s most successful technologies, including the black-white-black Versa alignment aid, a new Fusion RX insert and a wide choice of Tour-proven head shapes. The Fusion RX insert sees a White Hot insert combined with an ultra-thin stainless steel mesh and the patented Metal-X roll pattern to create a face that gets the ball rolling 12 per cent faster than the standard White Hot insert. It also reduces skidding and bouncing, which leads to more consistent distance control. The Works range features three different sub-ranges, including five Versa models, four counter-balanced and standard models, all in Tour-proven head shapes.

Odyssey Milled Odyssey Milled Collection is the perfect choice for players who want the pinnacle of advanced putter technology. Odyssey has worked directly with the world’s best players and pushed the bar even higher for its most premium putters. This has been done by putting in the Fusion RX insert – where the feel of our White Hot insert meets roll from a Metal-X face and ultra-thin stainless steel mesh. The refining of the most proven models gives players new options, like a more squared face or a flatter topline and by using advanced CNC milling with hand finishing and adjustable weighting.
