The Farry Chartered Accountants Singles Stableford on Saturday was claimed by Joe McEnhill with a fantastic 46 points. In the first leg of the Phair Cup semi final Castle Hume performed well to take a good lead of 13.5 to 2.5 to Auchnacloy for the deciding second leg later this month.

Dara McManus enjoyed a successful debut paired with Barry McCauley and Malcom Sloan showed just how competitive he is by winning his match with in-form Geoffrey Sharpe in a match of the highest standard and tension.

The pairing of Packie Duffy and team captain Dougie Hutton secured another win and was decided on the 18th green in a game of nip and tuck where no quarter was asked or given.

Finally the pairing of Nigel Connor and old hand Warren Dixon proved once again to be too strong for their opponents.

Despite a sizeable lead this result only represents the halfway stage in a fiercely contested semi final and Castle Hume can expect a vigorous contest at Aughnacloy. While Captain Douglas keeps his selection options open it will be difficult for players to break into this strong team.
