Enniskillen ladies season has been badly disrupted over the past few weeks due to the atrocious weather conditions with the last two Tuesday competitions being postponed. It was a great relief to see the sun appear in time for our final ladies open of the year on Saturday.

The event was kindly sponsored by Lochside Garage. 54 ladies competed in splendid overhead conditions. While it was wet in places underfoot, Rodney Howe and his team of green staff ensured that the course was playing very well.

There were visitors from Bundoran, Castle Hume, Blacklion, Bettystown, Moyola, Belvoir and Banbridge. Hilary McIlroy secured the only two of the day on the par three 11th. She also added the back nine prize with 19 points. Orla Foster produced the best front nine with 18 points to claim that prize.

Enniskillen's latest up and coming golfer Dee Colville bagged both the longest drive and runner up in category 29-36. Audrey Williamson continued her recent good form to win the category with 29 points on countback from Dee. Paula O'Hara came second in the 19-29 category with 32 points. Deirdre Mc Sorley won the category with a great 34 points. The 0-18 category was won by the visiting Carmel Kavanagh with 32 points beating Enniskillen's Rosemary Wylie into second place on countback. The gross prize was won by Bea Beattie from Moyola.

Overall runner-up spot was taken by Mags McCaffrey with 34 points. Gladys Fisher matched Mags score but by virtue of a better back nine was declared the winner. The prize winners were presented with their prizes by Des Dolan of Lochside Garage. The ladies section is extremely grateful to Des for providing such a wonderful table of prizes to compete for.

The three matchplay competitions have been completed for the season. Irene Bownes is the winner of the Hospice Cup, Doreen Cathcart has won the Guinness Cup while Moira Parfitt has won the Rugby Cup. Congratulations to all three worthy winners. Our Tyrone and Fermanagh Seniors head to Newtownstewart on Monday for the last round of the league. They currently hold a slender one point advantage over hosts Newtownstewart. We wish Gladys and her team the best of luck.
