This week we review some of the hottest iron designs for this year from many of the leading golf manufacturers.

Callaway X2 Hot The X2 Hot irons have more ball speed and forgiveness making them our longest irons ever. The exceptional sound and feel at high ball speeds come from the stabilising arch that reinforces the face. It’s not easy to create an iron set that’s easy to hit yet provides power and feel for golfers who don’t make a consistent swing. But Callaway and their design team have done exactly that with their new X2 Hot irons 40 percent more consistent than last season’s X Hot irons.

Cobra BiO CELL COBRA Golf’s new BiO CELL Irons are designed to help golfers Go Long. Providing tungsten fuelled distance and forgiveness, the BiO CELL Irons perform as good as they look and look as good as they feel. Featuring tungsten, a perimeter undercut, E9 Face TechnologyTM and Bio CELLs, the BiO CELL Irons are ready for action and available in four colours including Silver, Blue Aster, Barbados Red and Vibrant Orange.

TaylorMade SpeedBlade Visually striking and incorporating Speed Pocket, a handle-bar shaped slot in the sole of the 3-7 irons that enables a large area of the face to flex and rebound at impact, resulting in faster ball speed, higher launch and better feel.

Titleist AP1 The Titleist AP1 irons are advanced performance, multi-material irons that offer more distance with forgiveness, solid feel and traditional looks to help advance the games of aspiring to skilled golfers. The new AP1 714 irons are designed to be the best performing irons for golfers of all levels and now 20-handicap golfers will find these to be competitively the most forgiving and playable irons on the market today.

Nike VRS Covert 2.0 The Covert 2.0 irons feature a deeper, undercut, high-speed cavity back design that generates higher, longer and straighter shots while the NexCOR face and thinner, no-weld sole, delivers faster ball speeds across the face.

The high frequency X3X grooves enhance spin control and shot-to-shot consistency.

Ping i25 The 17-4 stainless steel irons deliver forgiveness and distance with control to inspire confident shot making.

In the progressive set design, the long irons are designed with head sizes and sole widths that deliver high trajectory and extreme forgiveness.

The more compact mid and short irons have narrow soles and less offset for enhanced accuracy and scoring.

Narrow face-stabilising bars in the long irons increase ball velocity for added distance and height while wider bars in the short irons produce a controlled, lower ball flight with softer feel.
