Former world number one Tiger Woods has split with coach Sean Foley. The pair had been working together since 2010 with Foley widely credited with helping Woods rediscover his form - the player won eight PGA Tour titles while working with him.

Foley helped Woods re-design his swing to take pressure away from his knees - a long-standing problem.

However, more recently the 38-year-old has suffered back injuries and the split comes shortly after Woods announced he would be taking a four-month break from action in a bid to cure the issue.

Foley, who first worked with Woods at the 2010 PGA, was Woods’ third coach as a professional following Butch Harmon and Hank Haney.

As previously mentioned before on this subject, Tiger may be best to listen to the advice of his former mentor Butch Harmon; “If he ever asked me what I thought he needed to do, I’d tell him, look, go on the practice tee without anybody - without me, without Sean Foley, without Hank Haney, without a camera, and start hitting golf shots.

“Hit some high draws, some low draws, high fades, low fades, move the ball up and down, move it around; don’t worry about how you do it and go back to feeling it again.

“Quit playing golf swing and just hit shots; just say to himself, I’m going to hit a low fade, and I don’t need anybody to tell me how to do it, I’m just going to feel it. He’s Tiger Woods, for God’s sake. He doesn’t know how to hit a shot?” Wise words indeed.

PGA Tour: Deutsche Bank Championship An extra day’s rest and a return to familiar territory means that Rory McIlroy is a worthy 9/2 favourite for the Deutsche Bank Championship, which starts on Friday.

We only have to go back to 2012, when McIlroy won this event, for evidence to support this theory.

Back then, Rory had dotted up at Kiawah Island, re-tuned at Bethpage, and was ready to go again following an extra day’s rest.

A repeat is very much possible.

However there seems little value on McIlroy and a better option would be Bill Haas at 40/1 each-way.

Equipment Review: Golf Buddy PT4 The new PT4 from Golf Buddy is sleeker, slimmer, lighter and faster than any previous handheld device I’ve experienced before. It’s incredibly quick and easy to use.

The next generation of the successful GolfBuddy Platinum device, the PT4, carries a design that is both user-friendly and easy to use.

The current model has been upgraded and now features the slimmest design, highest resolution and largest screen when compared to other major competitors in the handheld device category.

Boasting the largest screen of any golf GPS on the market (33% larger than anything else) with a 4” LCD touchscreen, it has enabled GolfBuddy to add even more advancements to the award-winning GPS technology which saw the PT4’s predecessor twice named the best golf GPS in the UK.

As with all GolfBuddy products, there are no expensive annual membership fees and no hidden costs to download courses or access premium features.
