A moving, documentary film on the life of Richard Britton will be premiered in Enniskillen on Saturday, January 23 at the Enniskillen Hotel.

Prior to that there will be a press preview showing at 11am on Tuesday, January 12 at the Waldo Cinema in Helen’s Bay which is expected to be attended by family, friends and racing colleagues of Richard's.

September 2005 marked the 10th anniversary of the tragic death of Richard Britton, one of the top motorcycle riders of his day. He was killed in a freak accident at Ballybunion. To mark this anniversary the Enniskillen & District Motorcycle Club commissioned a feature length documentary on the life and times of Richard which has resulted in the film which is called 'A tribute to Richard Britton - the People's Champion' and runs for 75 minutes.

With contributions from his close family, racing friends and fans, among those helping to tell his story are Steve Plater, Jamie Whitham, Ryan Farquhar, Brian Reid, Hector Neill, Josh Elliot, Mervyn White, Phillip McCallen and Con Law. Over 20 photographers have contributed to the programme with some never seen before photos.

Unseen racing and family footage from his early years is included in this comprehensive record of his life. Some of his famous races are covered including his win at the NW200 and successes at Cookstown, Tangragee and Kells.

The producers are grateful for the use of this racing footage to the clubs and Greenlight who hold the copyright.

Stephen Watson provides the commentary over this moving story covering Richard’s life from the age of 3.

Produced by the James Brothers (Waldovision), who have made such notable documentary films as “Joey Dunlop - Remembered” and “How the North West was Won”, this Britton programme will be available to purchase on DVD in late January.
