Tempo's Gary Robinson who enjoyed a good start to the season over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Irish Short Circuit Championship
Easter Saturday at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit saw the opening round of the 2010 Irish Short Circuit Championship Races, where local racer Gary Robinson was in action at the traditional Enkalon Trophy Races.
Although the weather was not in favour of the event, Gary qualified in sixth place in the Supersport 600 class behind Australian Cameron Donald and Kiwi Bruce Anstey who secured the pole position. In the three race series and in treacherous conditions, Gary finished a respectable eighth, ninth and 13th respectively.
"I don't make any secret of it," said Gary. "I don't like racing in the wet conditions, but I just get on with it and try my best, so I was happy enough with my results."
Kirkistown was the venue for Easter Monday where again conditions were not in favour of the event. Instead of rain, the competitors were forced to endure heavy wind and slightly damp conditions. Gary qualified in seventh place and maintained his grid position for race one to finish seventh. The Tempo man finished eighth in race two and was subsequently invited into the feature race of the day, The Mayors Trophy Race.
The race was made up from the fastest 600cc and 1000cc competitors of the day. Gary sailed over the line in 10th place to round off a tough but enjoyable weekend.
"I'm very happy with my start to the season, I dialled in straight away this year and I'm physically fitter than ever. My confidence is growing too so hopefully I can improve on my results."
Gary has announced he is taking part in this year's Cookstown 100 which takes place on Saturday, April 24, and the Northwest 200 on Saturday, May 15.
The Enniskillen 100 Motorcycle Club have organised a Motorcycle Poker Run this Sunday, April 11 to help raise funds for Gary. The Run will leave the Tech car park (opposite Dunnes stores) at 10am and will finish in the Milltown Manor, Tempo for prize giving and light refreshments. £10 per bike and everyone is welcome. Gary would like to thank the Enniskillen 100 Motorcycle Club for organising the run and would urge anyone with a bike to come along for the fun.
