MOTORCYCLING

As the Motorcycle Racing calendar creeps closer to an end, Gary Robinson continues his good form in the Irish National Short Circuit Championship.

Bishopscourt Racing Circuit was the venue last Sunday where Gary qualified fifth fastest on the D.R Refrigeration Yamaha R6. With almost perfect weather conditions at the Co. Down Circuit, the Tempo man fought hard to finish a highly creditable fourth place in both supersport 600 races.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend,” said Gary. “I’m really happy with my riding at the moment, I’ve furthered my progress this year but I’ve still a lot more work to do. The bike has been so reliable and I’ve really gelled with it. I’m consistently getting faster, so lets hope I don’t end up in the tyre wall! The level of competition and machinery is really tough this year, and lap records continue to be broken, but thats all part of it. I enjoy the challenge.”

With seven races left, Gary currently lies fifth in the championship, 37 points behind Gary Jeffers in fourth. This is Robinson’s best championship position yet in the national scene which is a testament to his progress.

The next Irish Superbike Championship race will be held on Saturday September 4 at Kirkistown Circuit.

Gary would like to extend his thanks to all his sponsors and people who have helped him to date.
