The U9 players who took part in the novice round robin at Enniskillen Tennis Club.

The novice round robin took place at Enniskillen Tennis Club on Sunday March 22 and March 29. A total of nine children took part and despite the windy wet weather, the children really enjoyed the event. The format on both days included singles and doubles. The children were divided into two teams with the emphasis on team play rather than individual scores.

The first round of singles saw Maeve McCaffrey and Oisin Macken battle it out in a closely fought match with Maeve narrowly winning 20-18. Lara Todd and Amy Griffin also had a tight match with some great rallies. Carl Sangwine had a close encounter with Oliver Guette with some strong tennis from both players, Carl just pipping Oliver to win the match 20-16. Other singles of note was between Danielle McKinney and Maeve McCaffrey with some excellent tennis shown from both players with Maeve just coming out on top.

In the doubles section Eimear Smith and Lara Todd took on Amy Griffin and Danielle McKinney. However Eimear"s backhand proved decisive and she and Lara came out on top. The mixed doubles saw Oisin Macken and Maeve McCaffrey take on Oliver Guette and Fiona Knowles and again another tight match ensued with some sparkling rallies.

A special word of thanks goes to all the parents who helped umpire matches even in the rain. Although this was a fun event, the children gained some good match play experience. The presentation of prizes will take place on Friday April 3 and will also include the presentation of prizes for the junior round robin which took place from January to the end of March. A fun night is being organized for this date from 7pm until 9pm.
