Three young Irvinestown Tennis players Kyran Maguire, Conan Whitley and Eoin Meade travelled to Bangor last week to take part in the first Ulster Branch Tennis event of the year and came home with honours in the U9 event.

Having played in Templeogue Dublin the week prior the boys showed good form with some valuable experience gained ,

U9 EVENT

In groups of four, Kyran and Conan played some really good tennis with good wins between them and very enjoyable matches. Indeed, at the end of the play-offs they faced each other in the final.

Conan got off to a great start breaking Kyran"s serve but as both boys settled down, Kyran showed his fine variety of shots moving the ball around the court as Conan retrieved ball after ball and pushed his fellow club mate all the way before Kyran finally won the match 6/4 6/3 with both boys being complimented by the tournament organiser for their fine displays despite their young age.

U10 Event

Eoin Meade took part in a highly competitive event with some of the best players in the province taking part. In a group of four, he won two out of the three matches to qualify for the semi-finals. Then, after a long warm day, he played out a tight match before losing out 4/6 3/6 and with tired legs finally finished fourth overall. However, he could be delighted with day"s play.
