Entries being taken for Fermanagh Open

Fermanagh Open Tennis Tournament; The Fermanagh Open Tennis Tournament was launched this week by Letitia Conway of Tullana on the Green Restaurant in Lisnarick, Joe Mahon of Mahon"s Hotel in Irvinestown and David McDowell, Irvinestown LTC Club Captain.

The Tournament will be held from Monday, June 29 to Sunday, July 5 and players are expected from as close as Castle Street and as far away as Dublin or further.

In the Open event Stephen O"Shea from Dublin is returning to defend his singles title and will come up against local contenders such as Adam Donaldson for Enniskillen and Francis Venzon from Donegal.

In the ladies open, former Champion Alexis Russell from Ballymena will be battling it out against locals hopefuls such as Susanna Hughes-Jordan of Enniskillen and Nicola Hawkes of Omagh. The B and C section will also be hotly contended by all participants.

Singles, doubles and mixed doubles events will be played in Open, B and C sections with singles in the C1 section. Entries are being accepted by phone to the Bawnacre on 68621177, on the official entry form, or online through www.irvinestownlawntennisclub.co.uk or www.tournamentsoftware.com and entering 'Irvinestown' in the 'Find Tournament' box. All entries should arrive by 6.00pm on Saturday, June 20.

The tournament committee wish to thank the Tullana, Mahon"s and Fermanagh District Council, who are supplying the courts and pavilion, for their generous help in supporting the tournament financially in these difficult times.
